I (Darryl Way) recorded this concerto in 1992 as part of a project called The Elektra Ensemble. The idea was to have a small manageable ensemble consisting of an electrified string quartet and synth keyboards to perform classical music and bring it to a wider audience; an audience that were more used to listening to Rock Music. We did a few concerts including the classical tent at Glastonbury Festival, which were all well received, proving that the concept worked well. However for this recording, for reasons that are too complicated to go into here - I ended up playing everything, including the orchestral parts, (except of course the harpsichord, which was played by Francis Monkman and cello parts which were played by Dietrich Bethge).
