Dr Timothy Yap speaks to ecancer about the phase 1 trial of VT3989, an inhibitor of yes-associated protein /transcriptional enhancer activator domain, in patients with advanced solid tumours enriched for malignant mesothelioma and other tumours with neurofibromatosis 2 mutations.
The trial used a 3 + 3 dose escalation design and evaluated VT3989 from 25 to 200 mg QD continuously and 50 to 200 mg intermittently. All malignant mesothelioma patients had progressed on prior platinum/pemetrexed; all but 2 had prior immune checkpoint inhibitors.
Dr Yap concludes by discussing the results of the study, highlighting that VT3989 is safe and well tolerated with durable RECIST v1.1 antitumour responses in patients with advanced malignant mesothelioma and NF2m cancers.
