As reported in the national press recently new EU rules mean that the traditional British pudding 'Whelk Custard' will now been classed as inedible and as such illegal to eat.
We at 'Save the Whelk' feel this is a terrible injustice to our cultural heritage.
Whelks have been caught and freshly squeezed into custard for hundreds of years. Our ancestors build large cities and financial citadels on the back of whelk wealth. Think of Bristol and its once booming whelk industry or Weston-super-Mare, where even today the whelk is celebrated as the towns' mascot - 'Winston Whelk'.
To air our views and promote the eating of Whelk Custard we have commissioned a lovely commercial. This video features the sing-a-long hit 'We all like whelk custard' and has become an overnight hit on 'YouTubes' - probably.
So please sit back, crack open a can of Whelk Custard, unplug your 'lug-holes' and celebrate all that is wonderful and tasty about this great British dish!
