Shosh, a small village in Karabakh, was once famed as a center of education.
During the Artsakh War, Shosh sustained extensive damage, and its school was burned down when it was struck by a rocket. For the next ten years, classes were taught in the municipal building and elsewhere. That changed in 2004, when Armenia Fund built a school in the village, with the financial support of Toronto Armenians and in memory of those who were orphaned by the Armenian Genocide.
In 2014, the Canadian-Armenian benefactors sponsored a top-to-bottom renovation of the school. They also donated a minibus to provide transportation to students from the neighboring village of Mkhitarashen.
Today the school of Shosh is a state-of-the-art facility, with a complement of amenities including fully equipped biology and chemistry labs.
