Until recently, Pan Fried Sicilian Pizza was a Luzerne County, PA exclusive. If you wanted PFS, you were making the commute to the back mountain to order a tray of the crispy fried bottom pizza.
Samario’s in Scranton has begun offering the this pan fried delicacy, making them unofficially the 3rd pizza shop to offer it in Lackawanna County. It’s currently only available 2 days a week so check their social media for details.
This PFS is well executed and really mimics the pizza found in the Wilkes-Barre area. I definitely got some authentic Luzerne vibes from this tray. What do I mean by that? Crispy fried bottom, soft chewy interior, simple crushed tomato sauce, and classic onion flavor (if you order correctly with onions like me lol). The cheese was more like a classic American Sicilian but still very comparable to many PFS’s across the county line!
Who will be trying this tray?
