The International Buddhist Temple is located in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada. It is a Chinese Buddhist temple run by the International Buddhist Society. While the Society officially practices Mahayana Buddhism, the temple is open to Theravada Buddhist affiliates and visitors, as well as visitors of all religious and unique cultural backgrounds.
The main temple is not open now due to covid. That was disappointting but the rest of the gardens are still nice to see. You may leave offerings of fruit, flowers and cash donations.
There are cute cheesy plastic deer statues. Each deer has a label on its back asking you not to ride on the deer in English and Chinese. It made me laugh. You'd think that would be a given but....some people lol
I'm not a Buddhist but I enjoyed the experience and as with most religious places, there is a sense of calm. The section with the dark statues is worth a visit. The expression on the faces is unique and funny.
No one was permitted to enter the great hall due to covid19 this year. But, everyone was able to buy incense to pay our respect and pray just outside the entrance to the temple.
I'd recommend popping in and having a visit. This place is an experience.
