This spectacular hike includes a steep ascent of roughly 1000 vertical metres straight to Strogoula peak, followed by a long ridge-line ride with astonishing views. The last part is a 300m descent to a camping location, about 8,5 km away from the starting point of the route.
The total distance is about 21 km and it took us one and a half day to complete. The first part of the route: Pramanta refuge to Agathi location, is roughly 12 km but its a very slow crawl over steep ascends and descents. We had to hike under very, very hot conditions and i assume that this was also a big factor that affected speed. We did this hike in the last day of July , the heart of greek summer. The route itself doesnt pose any technical difficulties but is about 50% of the time exposed to high altitudes. The descent to the camping ground is quite steep, time consuming and hard on the feet.
Overall its a demanding route, suitable mostly for experienced hikers.
