Very Wide Unilateral Cleft Lip surgery
This infant boy was born with a very wide unilateral cleft lip and palate defect. His parents presented with him to our hospital for management of his deformity.
He subsequently underwent correction of his wide cleft lip deformity at our hospital at the age of 3 months old. This was through raising a C-flap for reconstruction of the floor of his nose and nasal sill. A three-layer closure was next performed of the cleft lip.
A surgical loupe was used to perfectly align the orbicularis oris, subcutaneous tissue and skin of the lip. There was an excellent approximation of the cleft lip.
He had very good closure of the very wide cleft lip deformity. His parents were instructed to return at 10 months for cleft palate repair.
