In today’s tech news, Tesla held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new $375 million lithium refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas. The plant will produce battery-grade lithium, a key ingredient in electric vehicle batteries and home and utility-scale batteries. Tesla aims to produce enough battery-grade lithium at the refinery to manufacture one million vehicles per year and to produce more lithium than the rest of North America's refining capacity combined. The project is seen as a significant step forward for Texas, which aims to become more self-reliant in producing the lithium it needs and not be dependent on other countries for supplies. The construction of the facility is expected to create 150 new jobs and generate extra taxes for the Robstown Independent School District.
