This is our highly complicated method of finding delaminated areas of concrete. It is called "percussion sounding", also known as "hammer sounding". It involves hitting concrete with a hammer. On a thick piece of concrete, if the hammer makes a "ping" sound and rebounds when you hit the concrete, than it is solid. If the hammer makes a "thud" sound, and it feels like you hit a piece of concrete that is not solidly connected to the concrete below, then you likely hit a piece of concrete that is not solidly connected to the concrete below.
