A unique transition sequence in chronological order, with some necessary adjustments, of 30 of the 32 self-portrait paintings that are recognised by the Rembrandt Research Project as being by Rembrandt himself and that are in Rembrandt’s ‘classic’ self-portrait pose; it excludes images of Rembrandt that are part of a scene with other people or where he is not looking at the viewer and/or has obtrusive non-painting props. (In some cases this necessarily oversimplifies a classification based on balance of probabilities etc)
Most commentators agree that the finest of these self-portraits is at Kenwood House, London, Rembrandt's 'Self-Portrait with Two Circles', c1665, seen at the centre of the screen, with the white cap.
