Today we're talking about sliding arpeggios! This is a fun and unique way to move through your arpeggios, as well as an excellent way to traverse the length of the fretboard quickly.
If you're familiar to the concept of alternate-picked two-note-per-string 7th arpeggios, the shape of the sliding arpeggios differs slightly. After hammering-on from the 7th to the root, we move up the arpeggio linearly. Once we reach the 5th, we will slide up to the 7th and repeat the process!
As for the lick provided in the video, we are moving through alternating patterns of Emaj7 and C#min7—you may notice that these are relative major/minor to one another! Since we aren't purely sweeping up-and-down, nor are we moving through an alt-picked 2NPS pattern, we are able to sequence the arpeggios in a more varied manner which will allow us to introduce intervallic play that is much more difficult to achieve through other technical means.
