Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley toured the Buccoo Reef passenger vessel, shortly before it departed for Tobago on its first commercial journey on Friday.
The brand new high-speed, passenger catamaran now joins the recently-commissioned A.P.T. James on the inter-island route.
Prime Minister Rowley toured the Buccoo Reef at the Port of Port of Spain and was joined by Vice President of the Senate, Nigel De Freitas, Minister of Works and Transport, Rohan Sinanan, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, Stuart Young and Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts, Randall Mitchell.
The Buccoo Reef can accommodate 1,000 passengers (including crew) and 239 cars. The vessel is expected to make the journey between both islands in approximately three hours.
