We all rely on biological diversity. Not only is it the support system that allows the Earth to flourish but it supplies us as humans with multiple, wide-ranging benefits. How can we call upon biodiversity to help us build a greener, more resilient landscape? This session will provide an insight into how increasing and enhancing biodiversity can support the creation of greener developments whilst delivering wellbeing benefits to create a prosperous nation.

This webinar will introduce current legislation and policy in Wales relating to biodiversity. We will discuss the ways in which biodiversity can be valued, assessed and implemented as both an enhancement measure and a resource for future developments. The webinar will introduce relevant toolkits such as the Biodiversity Metric, current guidance and assessment pathways in which developments can deliver both quantitative and qualitative gains in biodiversity. This includes how natural resources can be utilised to benefit both humans and the environment whilst supporting the cause of halting biodiversity loss and helping to slow down climate change.

A few case studies will be presented to showcase how biodiversity has been valued, how it has been called upon in the design of projects and how this has been implemented at WSP, throughout the UK.
