We are in the capital of Laos, Vientiane! This is the final stop on our 10-day Laos itinerary, and we arrived here from Vang Vieng via Laos’ brand-new high-speed rail. Despite mixed reviews that we read online, Vientiane pleasantly surprised us with its beautiful temples, monuments, good vibes, and delicious food. While Vientiane doesn’t have the bustling energy of Bangkok or Hanoi, it has its own unique charm and hidden gems for those with an open mind. We loved leisurely strolls through quaint streets, engaging with friendly locals, and embracing the unhurried pace of life. The city's food and café scene also impressed us, with chic French-style cafes dotting the urban landscape. Vientiane has some cool must-do activities, but you won’t need much time to explore this mellow capital. One full day is enough to visit the quirky Buddha Park, check out temples and monuments, and enjoy its delicious food. Don’t skip Vientiane when traveling to Laos!
