Our judgement of others is a statement about our relationship with ourselves.
When we scan the world, unconsciously we see people in rank-order, hierarchical fashion. When two people interact with one another, we make assessments about who is better than the other.
You might use varied metrics like wealth, health, status, social ability.
We judge others as a coping mechanism to deal with our own insecurities.
I'll repeat this for emphasis.
We judge others as a coping mechanism to deal with our own insecurities.
Reflect on this and ask yourself.
When does the need to compare yourself with others arise in you?
Only when you're feeling worthless and insecure isn't it?
If we were truly at peace with ourselves and felt secure, we would be judging people less and understanding them more.
Use this reframe when you feel judged next time and understand what the person judging you is going through.
Their judgement of you says nothing about you and everything about them.
