A United Nations official has been killed on assignment in Kosovo.
Police say the U-N staffer was shot as he went out for dinner at the end of his first day on the job.
The man angered a crowd of ethnic Albanians by speaking what was apparently Serbian.

The attack highlights the tensions in Kosovo, where ethnic Albanians have been retaliating against ethnic Serbs since the NATO bombing led to a withdrawal of Belgrade's forces.
The U-N swiftly condemned the killing.
