This was my 3rd run on the East at the 2019 SCCA Solo Nationals.
1st run was a 58.401
2nd run - throttle cable broke after start
3rd run was a 58.197
The Beast started out as a 1958 Bugeye Sprite, has a custom carbon fiber body and is fitted with a Turbo Rotary motor, power was set to 330HP day 1 East and 290HP day 2 West (motor was hurt). Weight is 1820 pounds and runs on Avon A11 compound Formula Atlantic size tires, not ideal for the 100 degree temps but we made them work.
Run 1 the car felt really good, unfortunately I did not get my second run due to a throttle cable break, by the time I took my 3rd and final run the tires were hot and had some rubber build up on them from my off course when the throttle cable broke. You can see some push the car had. This event was the first time with the new differential tune (I changed it the night before) ended up working pretty good. I need to dial my shocks back in since the car was sluggish in the slaloms (had a new valving package done on all 4 shocks right before Nationals and did not make any adjustments from how they were shipped to me). PAXed 1st for Thursday/Friday and 3rd overall. Motor had a small coolant leak during day 1 and opened up over night when the motor cooled down. Thankfully she held together for day 2 and allowed me to pull down my 13th National Championship.
