1. What qualification do I need to be an MOT tester?
You have to meet certain conditions before being allowed to train as an MOT tester. You must
• Have had a minimum of 4 years’ experience “on the tools” carrying out either repair or inspection on the class of vehicle you wish to test.
• You must have a level 3 qualification in repair or inspection of the class of vehicle you wish to test
• A full driving licence for the class of vehicle you wish to test
• Be of good repute, so have no unspent convictions related to assault or motor vehicle violations
