I’d like to speak with the ClueCon community about a project that CounterPath related to adding a collaboration feature set to both our clients and server applications. FreeSWITCH plays a central role in the project as we are leveraging FreeSWITCH as the MRF / Video bridge for the collaboration service that we will deploy to our own direct customers and via some partners. CounterPath works with some existing partners whom have their own MRF / SIP call control functions. Because we have a mixed SIP Call control / MRF environment it was important to CounterPath that we find a platform that provided both video muxing capabilities, SIP call control and that could be controlled via a API / eventing interface such that our Collaboration Server application can control and coordinate multiple MRFs. The FreeSWITCH platform met the needs of what we were looking for and allowed us to maintain support multiple MRF backends within the same Bria client and Stretto code. We’ve worked with the FreeSWITCH team relatively closely to improve interoperability between Bria and FreeSWITCH and as part of the process identified a number of general improvements on both sides that have significantly improved video quality as well as some ancillary items.
