Abiola Ogunbiyi is an actress, writer, dancer, musician, and award-winning filmmaker. She has appeared in the West End productions of Mamma Mia and The Book of Mormon, in numerous regional and international theatre productions, as well as the Sky television series of Jamestown.
Working in the arts can involve a process of constant adaptation; and although change can often feel very positive, sometimes a more negative mindset takes hold.
Abiola reflects on what each step in her journey so far has really taught her and how change should always be embraced. Abiola Ogunbiyi is an actress, writer, dancer, musician, and filmmaker. After graduating from ArtsEd London, Abiola appeared in the West End productions of Mamma Mia and The Book of Mormon. For her performance in Girls by Theresa Ikoko, Abiola was long-listed for an Offie Award for Best Female Performance. In 2018, Abiola joined the cast of the SKY series Jamestown, playing the leading role of Maria. She will appearing in the Netflix film of Matt Haig’s best-selling book, A Boy Called Christmas. Abiola’s comedy short film ‘Sexellence’ won Best International Film at The Portland Comedy Film Festival, and Best Comedy Short at The Grand Budapest Film Festival. Abiola appeared in the Closing Ceremony of the 2008 Olympics, singing in the National Youth Theatre choir. Abiola’s passion for creativity and education has led to her organisation and participation in numerous career seminars and panel discussions, and the creation of The Artists Branch, a consultancy firm for independent artists.
