Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're going to be taking a quick look at the Kwikee 32 Series RV step. Now these steps are going to be pretty much standard on a lot of coaches and RVs out there. You might have a different series, but Kwikee makes a lot of the factory steps now. So this is probably going to be an upgrade or maybe just a replacement of a worn out step on your RV. They are a tried and true, very reliable step.
It's nice and sturdy and should be pretty straightforward as far as getting you in and out of your RV.Some of the main features is that whenever you first open up your door and as you're getting out of your coach, these are going to automatically deploy out. They are an electric step. And then whenever you close the door to your RV, they'll automatically come back in. Something that's nice that they include with this kit is an override switch. So if you get to the campsite and you don't want to have to wait every time you open or close that door for the steps to come out, you can override that automatic function and allow those steps to stay out all the time.
That's going to be this portion of the kit right over here. So you'll get the door sensor, which is the wire and this little kind of square block, and then the actual switch itself and a plate to mount that into your wall to make it pretty easy to do. So that's a nice safety feature or a nice feature of it.A safety feature that is built into the step though, is whenever you turn on the ignition for your coach, the step will automatically come back in, so you don't have to worry about that step staying deployed while you're out on the road and being a hazard. In addition to that switch kit, it also comes with a four wire wiring to get that plugged up and it will fit right into this harness you see kind of sticking towards you and then there's also going to be this ground connection to make. It does come with instructions on how to do that.
It comes pretty much fully assembled, so all you need to worry about is this wiring. The one thing it does not come with is hardware, so that is something you will have to pick up on your own.Again, if you are replacing this step on your RV, you should be able to reuse that hardware unless it's looking really corroded. That would be the only time where I would suggest that you should change it out, but that's not going to be included with this kit, so you will have to pick that up separate if you want to get some new hardware for it.In addition to the automatic step, the steps themselves offer a nice wide step. They are a 300 pound capacity. They have this kind of coarse sandpaper material at the top to give you a no-slip tread, and then a nice high visibility yellow stripe to also make them a little bit more noticeable in the dark.
As far as measurements, with these you can read those right over there. The step itself that you're actually going to be using is a 24 inch by three or 11 and three eights. So that's measured edge to edge 24 inches, and then 11 and three eights front to back. The rise or the distance between each step is eight inches. So pretty standard to what you would experience with your house steps, so it shouldn't be too bad of a jump there. That's pretty much all there is to it for our look at the Kwikee 32 series RV steps. I hope this has been helpful in deciding if these are going to be the right steps for your particular application. We do have some other options available though here at etrailer.com. So if you want to have maybe a triple step or something else, we should have you covered there. Thanks for watching.
