Preserving our aquifers and protecting our water treasures, El Paso Water has remained steadfast in its commitment over the years. Aquifer storage and recovery will enable the utility to use innovative methods to replenish the Hueco Bolson.
Leading our efforts is the Fred Hervey Wastewater Reclamation Plant. Advanced treatment transforms wastewater to drinking standards and plays a key role in the way we have replenished and preserved the Hueco Bolson for almost 40 years. Treated wastewater is piped from the plant to a desert area where the geology allows water to seep into the groundwater and is extracted for use as drinking water years later.
