Mario Hernandez of LA Plaza shows you how to make your own tissue Mexican paper flowers to decorate your home altar. These pretty flowers can be made in any color and can be made for any occasion.
Materials and Procedure:
4 - tissue paper sheets. You may also repurpose tissue paper at home from packaging boxes and/or gift bags.
1 - Pair of scissors
1 - Florist Stem Wire or any small gauge wire should work. Other home alternatives may be include twist ties from food packaging.
1 - Ruler to measure square papers, size may also vary as long as the squared proportion remains.
Instructions:
1. Measure a 4” square on the tissue paper
2. Cut out four even squares
3. Stack all four sheets together
4. Fold in half, and then another half
5. Fold an additional half
6. You should have four folds per half sheet
7. Fold the other half then configure to an accordion style fold
8. Bring the accordion together and fold in half
9. Unfold half, then trim edges to a triangular tip
10. In between the folded accordion, twine the tip of florist stem wire
11. Gently begin to undo the folding on the accordion
12. Fluff and adjust paper to give it a natural look
