Shannon’s Soap ([ Ссылка ]) is an Ohio based artisan. Shannon, the soap maker is a degrees chemist who traded in a profession in immunology and then teaching, to become a stay at home mom. Aside from making soap and bath products, Shannon enjoys cooking, baking and tending to her coral reef. In addition to direct purchase from the company’s website, Shannon’s Soap products can also be found at Maggard Razors ([ Ссылка ]) and Smallflower ([ Ссылка ]).
Lakeshore Drive is a dirty aquatic inspired by the Great Lakes. The fragrance features notes of; Ozonic notes, bergamot, orange, neroli, labdanum, bay, and coumarin. The scent opens bright and fresh with a citrusy pop before being dirtied by herbaceous notes. This scent is very well balanced and I can see the connotation to walking by a freshwater lake. Mrs. Ruds enjoys this scent casually so that classifies it as neutral in my books. Strength of scent is mid off the puck and remains this way once lathered. Try That Soap ([ Ссылка ]) recommends Talbot Shaving Chittenango Creek as a similar scent profile.
This soap is offered in Shannon’s Soap premium base, known as Rust Belt Reserve. The ingredients for the premium line are listed as; Tallow, kokum butter, avocado oil, cocoa butter, shea butter, stearic acid, coconut, glycerin, lanolin, coconut oil, goat milk, mallow extract, buckthorn extract, meadowfoam seed oil, Vitamin E, essential oils, fragrance oils, potassium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide. The soap is of mid firmness and is on the thirsty side. With proper hydration and agitation, the optimal consistency of the lather is similar to sour cream. The lather has a nice balance of density and volume. Slickness is excellent with regard to both visible slickness as well as residual slickness. Post shave is excellent and provides the user with a protective boost after the shave. My skin had a noticeable silky feel for at least two hours post use. The Rust Belt Reserve line provides a performance bump over Shannon’s Soap standard line. Given my experience with this base, I arrive at a ShaveScore of 95. For similar performance in a soap base, I suggest; Highland Springs Soap Co.
