Corsica is an island in the Mediterranean sea, south of Monaco, North of Sardinia, west of Italy. It had been an independent Republic with its own constitution for 14 years when the French invaded it in 1769. Since then it has been run by the French administration despite a strong anti-French feeling. The Corsican language, which is not a dialect but a real language had been banned for many years to impose the French language but recently the Corsican Nationalist won the local elections and fought hard to enable the Corsican language to be taught in schools. In 1811, Napoleon (born in Corsica) gave the Corsican a reduced tobacco tax whereas tobacco in Corsica was 25% cheaper than mainland France. The recent French government have fought this law and these reduced prices will disappear very soon. Enjoy it while it lasts.
If you wish to stay in Ajaccio I recommend the Hotel San Carlu Citadelle with an amazing terrace. The owner is a cigar aficionado. I also recommend the Hotel Fesch in Ajaccio in the center of the city, cheaper more simple but also with a good terrace.
N.B. In the video the price of the Behika was €170 but it went up to €179.60 by the time I edited this video hence the price showing on the thumbnail!
