Maithon Dam, is a popular tourist and travel destination & picnic spot in Jharkhand and neighbourhood states Bihar and West Bengal. Maithon is famous for the 165ft (50m) high river Dam & Asia's first underground hydroelectric power plant built on river Barakar, and a water reservoir which spans over 65 square kilometres.
