At least 20 casualties were reported in southern Gaza’s Rafah following an overnight Israeli air attack. Meanwhile, the US said it is “deeply concerned” by footage of Border Police officers beating a defenceless Palestinian photojournalist in East Jerusalem. Hamas's armed wing posted a one-minute video message via its Telegram account showing three elderly Israeli hostages pleading for their release. Israeli military spokesperson Daniel Hagari said the video is "a criminal, terrorist video." Israeli officials told US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin that they want the armed Lebanese group Hezbollah pushed back by roughly 10km, Axios reported. Israeli officials said they want to see progress on this issue in the “next few weeks”, Axios reported. Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has threatened to bolt from the governing coalition if the war on Gaza doesn’t “continue at full strength.” Meanwhile, the Netanyahu-led government is also facing opposition from Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich.
