My Yelp Review!!!🤯🤬😡😠😤
This building is not fun anymore, it has turned into a low class and dilapidated, low income housing building!
This building used to be full of college educated residents, who were polite and courteous and were fun to be around. Back in the day under UIP and Bozzuto management, they would host wine tasting events, cooking demonstrations and trivia nights. This was a fun building to live in!
Under Greystar management, this is all gone. I do not feel that Greystar or the current management team wants any college educated residents, in this building anymore. I feel that the current management team favors only the low income, section 8 and voucher residents. I feel that the management team talks down to college educated people and makes us feel like we should not be living here. I feel like the current management team has a chip on their shoulder against any residents, who are not from Washington, DC.
The last event Greystar hosted was a pizza night. It was so low class that myself and others just walked away. The emails and text messages that are sent out by management, are always confrontational and low brow. The concierge's used to always be professional and say good morning and good afternoon to residents as we passed by. Those days are long gone under Greystar management.
The cheap rents that they are charging new residents, seem to only be attracting the section 8, voucher and low income renters. These are the kind of residents, that I feel they only want living in this building. There has been talk of long time residents receiving lease renewal offers of around $2,900 while new renters, most of whom are low income, section 8 and voucher folks, can rent the same model apartments for around $2,000. I think this is clearly a sign that it is time for myself and other college educated people, to move out.
Under Greystar and the current management team, this building is dirty, smells like a sewer and is severely showing it's age. Greystar and the new management team are so lowbrow that, they don't even wax the lobby floor anymore. The lobby looks hideous, like a super 8 motel lobby! Greystar is clearly showing zero pride in the appearance of this building.
The interior corridors of the building have nasty old and heavily soiled carpets. The hallways are in desperate need of a fresh coat of paint. The smell of the carpeting from all the water damage and mold, makes me so nauseous, that I want to puke. I pray that on my daily trips up and down the elevator, that it does not stop on the 3rd or 6th floor, the smell from those floors is unbearable. Oh, and the cockroaches are taking over the building!
Myself and others only have a short time left on our lease. We are willing to give a new management company a try, if the owners of the building fire Greystar by Thanksgiving. This building has the reputation for being the most mismanaged dump in the Navy Yard. I do not know of one college educated resident that would disagree!
If you are reading this review and have any doubts, please YouTube the numerous news reports about this building. Another resident had a YouTube business news celebrity, dedicate a portion of his show to Greystar's business tactics for this building. I will post the link below.
This review was collaborated by many residents of the Onyx on First. The residents who gave their input into this review are of all ages. We all have lived in the building for a while. We are all college educated. We all feel that it is time to speak out against the hostilities that we feel from Greystar corporate and the current management team.
To the owners of the building. Another resident has revealed who you are and your companies net worth. Blue Owl Capital (owner of the NHL Tamp Bay Lightning) and UIP, you together are worth BILLIONS. There is no reason why this building should be in this condition and/or mismanagement that it is in!
Ps. This review is being forwarded to the owners of the Onyx on First, as well as members of the media. Gentlemen, it's time to shine the media spotlight on what your investment in the Navy Yard has turned into.
Please feel free to email the individuals, who run the companies, that own this apartment building. I am sure that they would love to hear your thoughts, on how big of a dump this building has turned into!
