Are you entitled to a rental car after a car wreck? You are generally entitled to a rental car, if the wreck was not your fault. If you have rental car coverage on your own vehicle, oftentimes that will step in at the very beginning of a claim. The way it works is with a wreck, the accident actually gets reported to both sides.

The insurance companies are already on notice. They'll tend to take their sweet time where they'll do some research and try to find out who's at fault and see if there's any way they can get out of paying some or are all of your property damage claim. I've seen some of them really cheap out and offer nothing.

Some of them offer no rental cars, some of them offer rental cars for only $18 to $30 a day, or some people elect to talk to their own insurance company. If they have rental car coverage, get in a vehicle and their own insurance company will actually help start the property damage, get the money to you so you can get back on the road, back to your lives. In those cases, your insurance company will do something called subrogation with the other insurance company where they'll take that money back.
