This was onboard one of the brand new Class 717 Desiro City''s built by Seimens for Great Northern. One of the smoothest and the most reliable new trains on the network. I'm glad I didn't do this journey on the old Class 313s which I didn't like which they are now long gone. During this journey when we approach Drayton Park Station, we change current from 25k AC Overhead to 750V DC 3rd Rail and enter the Cast Iron Tube tunnel which was once operated by the Northern City Line on the London Underground until October 1975 until British Rail started operating the line from August 1976 onwards. Back in February 1975, 43 people died and 74 people were injured when a train bound for Moorgate came into Moorgate Station to terminate there suddenly hit the buffers end killing the Driver Leslie Newson in the end making it the worst peacetime accident on the London Underground.
