DOC's Training Academy builds civilians into Correctional Officers by teaching safety and supervision skills in the classroom and then applying them in hands-on settings. Last week, cadets completed the Inmate Management and Supervision Practical which introduces them to realistic situations they will encounter in a prison facility. Building upon the lessons they have learned so far, cadets are evaluated on Interpersonal Communication, inmate management, and implementing inmate count. This training exercise is one of many that are designed to build confidence and prepare Officer cadets for service in our correctional system.
