In this video, I am going to show you how to fingerpick solos with open string riffs and runs on your acoustic guitar. The method I teach you uses the pentatonic scale and open strings to create amazing open string licks and runs culminating in a very unique soloing sound for your acoustic guitar playing.
I am first going to show you a banjo roll pattern that you will use as a basis to work from when fingerpicking solos on your acoustic guitar.
I will show you both the forward and backward banjo roll pattern and then how to apply these to the pentatonic scale in a way that enables you to create open string riffs and runs all over the fretboard with ease.
The reason why this is easy to do is two fold:
1. You are accessing the pentatonic scale pattern that is the most common pattern used on the guitar, so this should already be familiar to you
2. Your picking hand is playing the same fingerpicking patterns over and over as you run up and down the fretboard soloing with open strings on your guitar
