They weave through the ever-moving lanes, darting between cars, buses, and pedestrians, always searching for an opportunity to get ahead. It's an art of maneuvering through tight spaces that only the locals seem to fully master.

Minibuses, or taxis, are another prominent feature of Kampala's roadways. These aging vans are often overcrowded with passengers and are notorious for squeezing into every available gap in the traffic. They make frequent, often abrupt, stops to pick up and drop off passengers, adding to the unpredictability of the flow. Their drivers, skilled in navigating the disordered streets, know how to push through tight spots where other vehicles might hesitate.

Private cars, often caught in the relentless gridlock, can be seen inching forward at a snail's pace. The roads are frequently lined with vendors selling everything from fresh fruits to phone accessories, adding to the bustle. Despite the apparent chaos, there's an unwritten rule: everyone knows the dance. The taxi driver will try to squeeze into a space, the boda boda will dart past, the private car will wait for an opening, and somehow, everyone keeps moving, if slowly.

The infrastructure, although improving, is often stretched to its limits. Narrow roads, frequent potholes, and poorly maintained traffic lights add to the congestion. Major intersections like those around the Old Taxi Park, Nakasero, or Wandegeya can be a nightmare, with drivers trying to outmaneuver one another while pedestrians dart across the roads without regard for traffic signals.

When it rains, the situation worsens, as puddles and mud slow everything down. However, the persistence of Kampala’s drivers and riders prevails, with even the most clogged streets continuing to buzz with life.
