The Orion Pulse 150i is an ideal solution for welding your wires and thermocouple samples. The touch screen user interface makes it easy for operators to quickly fine-tune energy settings and find successful weld parameters.
All the samples were welded using a sharpened 1mm tungsten electrode. The un-balled wires were welded in Nano Mode at 1.78ws energy.
The beaded wire was welded to the un-beaded element using 3ws energy in Nano Mode.
The parallel configuration requires several welds along the joint at 3ws energy.
The beaded ends of the 28 gauge wires were welded at 3.5ws energy. Depending on the size of the ball, one or two weld actuation will be used for good joint strength.
The 30 gauge to 28 gauge beaded wires were welded at 3.5ws energy in Nano Mode as well.
The Orion Pulse 150i can also easily form a bead on the ends of the wires using a single pulse of energy in Micro Mode. The size of the ball can be controlled somewhat by increasing or decreasing the amount of energy.
The thermocouple welds are easy to perform in one single weld actuation. The smallest sample was welded in Micro Mode at 14ws energy using sloped weld agitation and the remaining two samples were welded at 20ws energy and sloped weld agitation.
