Chef Jodies takes you through how to know if the nuts in your pantry are still okay to eat, and what you can do to freshen them up if they are!
We used almonds to demonstrate this tactic.
1. Take out one almond. Take a bite, if it is still soft but has those delicious almond flavours then they are still good to use and just need a refresh. You'll know if your nuts aren't good to use if they have an off flavour.
2. To refresh them, pop them onto a tray and into the oven at 180 degrees for a few minutes until you get the smell of almonds coming from your oven. They are high in natural oil so will continue to cook even once you take them out of the oven, so take them out a little before you think they are done.
