Labour MP Dawn Butler shared a social media post accusing Kemi Badenoch of embodying “white supremacy in blackface” shortly before Badenoch was elected as Conservative leader.
The post, from London-based Nigerian journalist Nels Abbey, also described Badenoch’s election as a “victory for racism” and offered “rules” for coping with her leadership. Butler, MP for Brent East, has since removed the repost from her X (formerly Twitter) profile.
The post warned readers not to be “gaslit” by Badenoch’s win, calling it “an unprecedented victory for racism,” and advised avoiding conflict with police, mentioning terms like “coconut,” “Uncle Tom,” and “Aunt Kemi.”
Discussing the win in the future politics panel with Dr David Bull is journalist Fariza Balgimbayeva and Conservative campaign manager, Jack Barwell.
