Reports of growing child malnutrition in the Eastern Cape has prompted the SA Human Rights Commission to launch an inquiry.
The Daily Maverick reports that 14 children under the age of 5 died in Nelson Mandela Bay, with hundreds more receiving treatment for acute malnutrition.
It comes as a third of the food produced in the country is thrown away, despite being perfectly edible.
