Indonesia has been somewhat outspoken on the Rohingya situation in Myanmar, but has oddly refrained from making critical comments on reports of persecution of Muslim Uyghur ethnic minorities in China’s westernmost province, Xinjiang.
We asked Sidney Jones, terrorism and security expert for Southeast Asia and founder of the Institute for Policy analysis of Conflict (IPAC), if Islam is a factor in Indonesia’s foreign policy making.
