Raise your hand if you feel like your business has become too complicated:
There are too many moving pieces, you're constantly having to hustle and market new things just to get cash in the door, or you're spending all your time down in the weeds because you're the only person that knows how all the pieces fit together …
Sound familiar? You're not alone. And there's a pretty clear reason why.
Take, for example, a Facebook post that made the rounds recently.
The headline was "simplicity is the key to growth," and in the post, were listed out three different business models that you "needed" to get from $100k to $1M...
Each with its own offer, sales method, marketing channels, and audiences.
And if that is what passes for simplicity, then it's a bit terrifying to consider what complicated looks like.
Now, that's not to say there's not a time and place for experimentation. All businesses start by trying a lot of different things. Every time things break, you need to find a new solution: a new way of delivering, a new marketing strategy, a new sales method. This mentality leads us to believe that every time you hit a ceiling or a plateau, the solution is to change your business model.
The problem is, though, changing your business model is a lot of hard work. You need to develop new products and processes. You need to figure out new messaging and build out new marketing campaigns. Upgrade your sales methods and put in place all kinds of new systems. And so on.
Fortunately, there comes a point at which it's also not necessary.
Your Business Model Isn't Broken
See, once you've got customers, a validated offer, and a process that gets results, that's not a sign that your business model is broken.
It's a sign that your business model is working.
What you need to do is not replace that model, but instead, adjust and tweak it to be a Core Offer.
In this video, we show you how to identify your Core Offer. You'll know you've found the right one when it is:
- Simple. As in simple to sell, market, and deliver. No unnecessary complications.
- Reliable. No more one-off sales, your core offer should be something that can provide you with revenue on repeat.
Optimized. With a smooth flow that reliably gets results for clients, so you can get out of the day-to-day.
If your Core Offer has those three things, you'll know that it's an offer that you can build your entire business around. You won't need to keep reinventing the wheel.
So if you're feeling like your business has become too complicated - there are too many moving pieces, you're constantly having to hustle and market new things just to get cash in the door, or you're spending all your time down in the weeds because you're the only person that knows how all the pieces fit together …
That's a sign that you need to focus in on what your Core Offer is … and then you can simplify your business to suit.
