Honey bees do not hibernate, they cluster together for warmth inside their hive. They are also very clean and refuse to relieve themselves indoors. Instead, they "hold it" waiting for a nice day to take a cleansing flight (potty break).
This hive was a late season swarm capture and was re-queened from a cut-out in late July. I'm taking special care to bring this hive through the winter. This video makes optimistic for the spring!
