In July 2005, Rovers' manager Mark Hughes brought Craig Bellamy to the club for a fee of £3.5m, as he set about transforming Rovers into a top 6 chasing Premier League team.

The explosive Welshman was only to stay for one season at Blackburn, but what an exciting season it was, as Rovers reached the semi finals of the League Cup and achieved a top 6 finish in the Premier League. Ending the season only four points off a Champions League place.

Bellamy finished the 2005/6 season as Rovers' top scorer with 13 League goals, scoring 17 in total in all competitions.

His blistering pace, creativity and ability to finish left opposition defences terrified and Rovers fans on the edge of their seats in anticipation. Bellamy was rightly awarded the fans Player of the Year award for his contribution in the 2005/6 season.

Making 32 appearances and scoring 17 goals for Rovers. His stay was short lived, but Craig Bellamy will go down as one of Rovers' finest ever signings.
