Jwalayayi’ was telecast in Kerala Doordarshan and it was produced by Malayalam superstar Mammootty. The serial continued its run for two years without any break or shift in the show time. The serial was even expanded to its second part as the serial had an excellent viewership data. This super hit Malayalam serial was produced and telecast at a time when DD programmes had constituted more than 60 percent viewership across the state,

The show had begun its telecast in 2000. At an initial stage, especially when Doordarshan Malayalam began to air this serial, it did not have even a single advertiser. Actors like Vinduja Menon, Jyothirmayi, Chandra Lakshmanan, Yamuna were part of the cast of this mega serial. When superstar Mammootty’s company, Megabytes produced this serial, cinema industry felt that film industry’s participation in small screen would provide a death knell to any movie watch.

Superstar Mammootty however just had ventured into the new business of serial production and gained maximum applause from the viewers actors the state.
