The spiny sand star (Astropecten armatus) exhibits a wide range of movement that most people might not associate with a starfish. They have small points, not suckers, on the end of their many tube feet, which allows them to glide over the sea floor with great agility and some speed. If upside down, they right themselves with an acrobatic flip. They can quickly disassemble when stacked upon one another.
