Previously, the party cleared the Keycatrich Trench as part of "The Power of Kings", and Noctis acquired his second royal arm, the Axe of the Conqueror. Now, for the next quest, "Declaration of War", Cor wants the party's help to nip a new imperial base in the bud before it costs them access to the regions to the west.

To get started, the party talks to Monica at the Prairie Outpost (time 1:00). She tells them about a back door that they have found to the Norduscaen Blockade. This is where the party has to go now.

The party drives the Regalia to the quest destination (time 1:33). It is not far away. Ignis and Gladio provide some background about Monica. Ignis parks at the Norduscaen Blockade parking spot.

Northwest of the parking spot, the party finds a food spot for Leiden Peppers (time 2:52).

In a narrow pass, the party meets up with Monica (time 3:23). Noctis will go ahead through the pass to meet with Cor, while his retinue will join Monica to create a diversion. Noctis chooses to proceed.

Past the narrow gap, Noctis catches up with Cor (time 4:26). They head through the back door into the base.

South of the door, there is a spot that yields a Hi-Potion (time 5:01).

Continuing on, they will encounter some imperial soldiers. They must now beat up the imperial forces. Look out for snipers on the high ground.

In a narrow corridor, there is a spot that yields a Hi-Elixir (time 7:37).

Past the last door, there is a spot that yields a Muscle Stimulant (time 8:59).

A scene takes place as Noctis and Cor drop to the level of the road (time 9:19). They open up the blockade, and Noctis's buddies enter. Unfortunately, an imperial officer, Loqi, also arrives. Loqi drops in in a Magitek Armor and has a legion of troops to back him up.

It is now boss time against Loqi in his MA-X Cuirass (time 10:27). Probably best to take out the Imperial Snipers first, then the other imperial jerks. The MA-X Cuirass is very dangerous with its shocking attacks, rockets, and machine gun. As with many types of Magitek Armor, warp-striking its rocket launcher at the top can stun it. During the battle, Gladio's Tempest technique and Ignis's Enhancement technique level up.

After the battle, Cor congratulates Noctis on his skills (time 14:30). Cor and Monica leave to keep watch on the Empire. "Declaration of War" complete! The party earns 600 EXP apiece. It is not shown, but they also got the Circular Saw machinery weapon. The player earns the trophy "No Turning Back" for completing Chapter 2. It is time to really get this adventure started!

The party's experience is tallied at the end of Chapter 2 (time 16:04). Noctis reaches Level 17, while Gladio, Ignis, and Prompto reach Level 16. Their AP goes from 113 to 152.

Chapter 3: The Open World begins (time 16:57).

We are privy to a rare scene with the imperial leaders in Gralea, Niflheim (time 17:14). Is it my imagination, or does Ravus seem out of place? Emperor Iedolas seems a bit obsessed with *his* Crystal.

We cut back to the party as they drive through the Norduscaen Blockade into the Duscae region (time 18:28). According to Ignis, Duscae is home to wetlands and a chocobo forest. The region far to the west is Cleigne, where the town of Lestallum is.

They pull into the Coernix Station - Alstor in the northeast of Duscae (time 19:24). Time to fuel up and gather intel before heading on to Lestallum. Ignis now empowers Noctis to drive the car whenever he wants. Noctis remains the designated nighttime driver.

Noctis receives a phone call from Iris, Gladio's sister (time 20:05). The story quest "Burden of Expectation" begins. The objective is to meet Iris in Lestallum. Then, Prompto taps Noctis's shoulder. He begs to go visit the chocobos at the Chocobo Post. This is not a bad idea, so Noctis consents. This begins the sidequest "Friends of a Feather". The objective is to travel to Wiz Chocobo Post south of Coernix Station - Alstor.

There is a bit of a junkyard across the road southeast of the gas station. Between two cars, the party finds Oracle Ascension Coin #009 (time 22:07). Yeah!

Outside the front door of a shack east of the gas station, there are spots that yield an Antidote and a Blackstone Ore (time 23:00). If you're up-to-date with Dave's quests, he will be here with another quest.

Between a couple of gas tanks, there is a spot for a Beautiful Bottle (time 23:27).
