We visited this spectacular fortress in summer 2021. The Klis Fortress is an amazing fortress located above a village bearing the same name,near the city of Split in Croatia. It‘s a medieval fortress built at the altitude of 360 metres for the purpose of controlling invasions of the enemies. Klis Fortress is probably best known for its defense against the Ottoman invasion of Europe in the early 16th century. During the last years the Fortress became famous as film location for the Game of Thrones series.(City of Meereen). The view of Split and the surrounding area is stunning.
