NOON is an experimental music project from Dubai featured at Smithsonian's Folklife Festival 2022.
Drummer and Percussionist, Ratish Chadha, describes how their musical style transcends cultures. Being from the other side of the world, and with elements of traditional Middle Eastern music, their sound gives a sense of place. However, their odd combination of cultural traditionalism (Exemplified by their implementation of the Oud) with the hypnotic sounds of polyrhythmic jazz/rock is the intriguing creativity that hooks audiences. The fresh (And sometimes overpowering) sound of their music moves a live crowd to emotion and awe, connecting listeners and giving them a sense of belonging.
