Is there money to be made in selling firewood? The answer is yes, but it takes a lot of hard work. I am now to the point where I sell so much firewood that I buy most of the rounds that are split into cord wood. I may have misspoke in the video? I think I said that I'll get $700 for the wood after its split but it's more like $600 for the wood. It's not an exact science but for this particular 4 truckload delivery I would estimate that I'll make around $300-$350 total profit on it. I make so little on what I sell I don't keep exact track on it. Also I ''eyeball" the volume of wood that goes into my truck bed so there could be a volume variance of +/- 2.5%
Keep in mind I have other expenses than the cost of the wood and paying someone to split the wood like gas, clothing (gloves), oil, maintenance on my equipment, etc. If I were to do all the work myself I would have to get rid of 80-90% of my customers as I can only cut & split about 2 truckloads per week.
JUST NOTICED THAT I SAID THEY BROUGHT ME 8 TRUCKLOADS WHEN ACTUALLY IT WAS 4.
