Glamis Castle can be found in the very heart of Angus, Scotland, The castle has been the ancestral seat to the Earls of Strathmore, Kinghorne and the Lyon family home since the 1372. Once the inspiration for William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Glamis is renowned for its rich history and famous visitors, from Mary, Queen of Scots to James V.
Probably its most famous resident was Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. It was her childhood home. In 1930, her second daughter, HRH Princess Margaret, the younger sister of Queen Elizabeth II was born here. Interestingly, the law at the time specified that the British Home Secretary had to be present at the birth.

Glamis Castle is situated beside the village of Glamis, near Forfar, Angus, Scotland. Currently, It is the home of the Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne, and is open to the public.
Glamis Castle has been the home of the Lyon family since the 14th century, though the present building dates largely from the 17th century.
The castle is protected as a category A listed building, and the grounds are included on the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland, the national listing of significant gardens.
