I'm Sara Wood. I'm an OB/GYN Physician working for Wasatch OB/GYN in Ogden Utah.
So I started my education here at Weber State University. So I'm a local girl. I grew up locally and decided to stay at Weber State, which I never thought I'd do because it was so local. Loved my education at Weber State, and then decided to move to Kansas City, Missouri to get my medical degree. So my medical degree is from Kansas City University of Medicine and Bio Sciences. It's actually an osteopathic medical school, so I did my training there. Great experience because osteopathic medicine is a combination of a traditional medical degree, but in addition to getting medical training like an M.D. does, I also get a lot of hands-on manipulation, and also more of a holistic approach. So treating the patient as a whole, not particularly just their pregnancy, but making sure that everything else is working well together.
So I'm involved in the American Medial Association, the Osteopathic Medical Association, and several Utah chapters. So my work schedule is pretty busy. Luckily I do have one day off a week. I work probably over 60 hours a week, and then I have a family at home. So, when I get home I love spending time with my children. I also love to snow ski and water ski, so those are my 2 favorite hobbies, and also getting out and just enjoying Utah's outdoors, hiking, and just being outside.
One of the most rewarding things about being an Obstetrician/Gynecologist is that I get a relationship with my patients. I get to know them, their families, their husbands, their other children, and I get to see them expand their families and have another child. The other aspect of gynecology that I love is that I've gotten the opportunity to know this person's family, and then I get to watch a patient go through all the big lifetime experiences.
